Here is why Lois Lerner has no entitlement to Fifth
Amendment protection: The Fifth
Amendment to the Constitution, like all the items in the Bill of Rights, is
designed to protect the citizens from the government, not to protect the
government from the citizens whose rights were violated by the government.
It is absurd for a government official to violate the Constitutional
rights of citizens, and then to hide behind that same Constitution for
protection.
Therefore, when a government official knows of any illegal
acts by the government, that official has an affirmative duty to report that
misconduct, even if it incriminates the official. The official is not entitled to protection
from accountability for acts committed while abusing their government position. That would reverse the intent of the Fifth
Amendment.
Lerner should be imprisoned for any crimes she committed,
and deserves no Fifth Amendment protections.
